Fibromyalgia

I have recently (this past Thursday) been diagnosed as having fibromyalgia. For those of you who don't know, this a disease where the person is just in pain all the time, to varying degrees. There are bad days and better days. Doctors aren't really sure what causes it and there isn't really a whole lot that can be done about it except just try to put a band-aid on the symptoms as they arise. About all you can do is learn to live with it. I am trying to arm myself with information. Pray for me as I deal with this. God bless. :)

I too have fibro. My pain started about 5 years ago but it took almost three to be diagnosed. It is very difficult to make people understand that each day I can have pain in a different part of my body. I am now only 36 and from outward appearances, it doesn't look like anything is wrong with me. On the inside is a very different story. You do eventually learn to manage the pain and life with the pain but there are always those days when you are just "down." Hang in there! The best thing you can do is keep moving, but listen to your body. You have to learn what routines work for you. Sleep is important but so is exercise. One without the other doesn't do the trick!

You might consider trying Lith-a-Life, an all natural supplement developed by NutriPrima. There were participants in a study that had fibromyalgia. They gave testimonies stating that using LithaLife has helped them tremendously. If interested, go to www.nutriprima.com. Hope that helps!

Hi Karla,
I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 11 years (I'm 36) so I can relate to your struggle. I remember when I was diagnosed and had a lot of questions and worries. It gets better and knowledge really is power. I would recommend reach out to your local Arthritis Foundation chapter. They have been a great help to me and through them, I've connected with others my age who have arthritis. I started a blog recently to offer tips, tricks, useful gadgets, etc. to arthritis warriors around the world. Check it out if you like. Take care and be well.

Found your site following the yellow brick road through sites I like. I too have fibromyalgia. I'll be curious how they choose to treat it, I feel like I have a handle on it for myself. I'll keep up with your posts for awhile if you are blogging about this. I'll send you some things to read if you are interested. In the meantime, you will be on my prayer list!

I found you through Sarah's blog.

Keep your chin up. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1998 after 5 years of fatigue and pain. I later learned that I have Chiari malformation, which causes a lot of fibro symptoms. See if you can rule out things like that.

Lyrica works very well for the pain, but I'm allergic to it. You may want to talk to your doctor about trying it. It made a real difference for me while I was taking it.

Peace - D
